Toyota and Lexus have announced a pair of recalls affecting a total of around 147,000 vehicles in the United States. These campaigns affect the Toyota Camry, Tacoma, Lexus NX, and RX. The automakers plan to begin notifying potentially affected owners about the campaigns in April 2025.
One of the recalls is for the 2025 Camry, Lexus NX, and certain 2024 and 2025 examples of the RX. There’s an issue where there might be a damaged second-row center seatbelt due to an issue during manufacturing. If this happens, the piece might not meet the required strength requirements, and a person could suffer greater injuries in a crash.
The Recall
Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the seatbelt webbing on the potentially affected vehicles. If necessary, they’ll replace the whole assembly as part of this recall.
Separately, Toyota is also recalling the 2024-25 Tacoma with four-wheel drive, 16-inch brakes, and 17-inch wheels. There are roughly 106,000 trucks in the country with this potential problem. The issue is that the rear brake hoses can suffer damage from mud and dirt over time. The possible fault can eventually lead to a brake fluid leak, and a severe enough issue could cause a crash.
The technicians at Toyota dealers will replace both rear brake hoses with improved pieces.
What Else You Should Know
If readers own any of the potentially affected models, they can enter the vehicle’s VIN at toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if repairs are necessary on their vehicles.
It’s worth noting that the affected vehicles are some of Toyota and Lexus’ most popular products in the country. In 2024, the Camry moved 309,876 units; the Lexus NX had 74,488 deliveries, and the RX tallied a volume of 118,636 units. Two of the three of them saw rising sales last year.
TopSpeed’s Take
It’s vital to repair a vehicle if there’s a recall. Owners have to go through a strenuous process to admit that these fixes are necessary. If you receive a letter saying this work is necessary, then take the vehicle for maintenance.
