Toyota’s Gazoo Racing motorsports arm does more than motorsports, and since 2019, it has been producing hard-to-find and NLA (no longer available) parts for some of Toyota’s most beloved classics. Under the GR Heritage Parts Project, it has produced parts for classic Supras, early

models, and more. That catalog of parts has expanded again, and Gazoo Racing will now offer a host of new parts for models like the

and more.

Dealer-Stocked New Old Parts For Your Classic Toyota

You won’t have to go too much trouble to get the parts either. Instead of scouring Japanese-language websites for spares located overseas, paying through the nose for shipping, and many of the other problems associated with owning classic Japanese cars, you’ll be able to just go to a regular ol’ Toyota dealer. Gazoo Racing will stock these parts at dealers. However, you may still have to order the parts from your local dealer — Toyota’s announcement did not specify which markets or dealers will receive the parts. Still, it beats surfing eBay for parts that may or may not show up as described.

Which Toyota Classics Get New Parts?

The catalog of parts will also grow. Toyota says it will offer parts for both the A70- and A80-generation Supras, the AE86 Corolla, and the 40-, 60-, 70-, and 80-series Land Cruisers. The new Supra parts are mostly composed of odds and ends like switchgear, which can be hard to locate in good condition. These include a rear defogger switch, trim and panel assemblies for the A80, and a rear (presumably wheel) speed sensor. The AE86 Collora Levin and Sprinter Trueno benefit from lighting assemblies, turn signals, and even a whole wiring harness for the engine. That likely won’t be cheap, but the alternative is getting a used one.

Land Cruiser models see the lion’s share of new parts. 40-Series models get new trim and taillight parts, 60-Series owners can order new oil pressure receiver gages and fusible links, and 70-Series Land Cruisers benefit from the same, in addition to a fuel receiver gage. Meanwhile, 80-Series owners can also order a new fuel receiver gage.

TopSpeed’s Take

Automakers should be taking steps to support the cars they still have on the road, including the classics. Generally, parts for some of these models can be very difficult to get, and seeing Toyota take steps to address this with some of its most iconic cars is a relief for owners.
