There are better EVs to choose from today, but the Volkswagen ID.4 is certainly not without its benefits. This all-electric SUV is spacious, subtly styled, well-built, and surprisingly affordable, and now it’s gaining some upgrades for the 2025 model year. On February 3, the German automaker announced the ID.4 will receive some new features starting around the middle of the year, plus production has resumed at the company’s factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The 2025 Volkswagen ID.4 Starts At Just Over $45,000
As before, a 62-kilowatt-hour battery will be standard in this SUV, with a larger 82-kWh pack on the options menu. VW has begun manufacturing vehicles fitted with the bigger battery once again, though versions with the smaller energy reservoir won’t enter production until the middle of the year. Additional details and pricing information about these models will be released closer to their on-sale date.
The ID.4’s confusing trim structure of years past should continue in 2025, so buckle your seatbelt. The rear-wheel-drive Pro model (with the 82-kWh battery) will now start at $45,095 excluding destination fees, which were $1,425 in 2024. The Pro trim with four driven wheels is expected to kick off at $48,995, again, without delivery.

including a Discover Pro Max (what a name!) infotainment system with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, navigation, and backlit control sliders. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included, too, as is a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster. This vehicle also sports a gloss black grille insert, LED exterior lighting, automatic headlights, and rain-sensing wipers. Additionally, all-wheel-drive models benefit from a heated windshield, heated washer nozzles, and heated exterior mirrors, plus they roll on 20-inch wheels as opposed to the 19s that are fitted to rear-drive variants.
Movin’ On Up
Stepping up the trim ladder, the Pro S rear-drive variant starts at $50,195 while the same model with all-wheel drive goes for $54,095. Aside from everything found in the standard trim, this model also gains illuminated exterior VW logos, upgraded LED headlamps with adaptive lighting, and standard 20-inch wheels. Inside, passengers are coddled by perforated leatherette seating surfaces, 12-way power front seats with memory and ventilation as well as 30-color ambient interior lighting. There’s also a heated steering wheel and a power-operated rear hatch.
Finally, we come to the 2025 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S Plus, which is only available with all-wheel drive. This range-topping trim starts at $57,295 sans delivery fees. Befitting its king-of-the-hill position in the model range, the Pro S Plus features several upgrades over the previous trim. This includes 21-inch wheels, three-zone climate control, a 14-speaker sound system, a 360-degree camera, special exterior trim, and a black roof with silver accents.
Pricing for the 2025 VW ID.4 has crept up, but not by much. Going off information available on the Volkswagen consumer website, the base Pro model appears to be just $220 more expensive than the comparable 2024 model. Year over year, the rear-drive Pro S model is $200 pricier than before.
