Motorcycles with automatic transmission have caught the fancy recently. To date, most motorcycles on sale with automatic transmissions have been from Honda, including its low-slung Rebel 1100 cruiser bike. But Yamaha and BMW have also caught up to this trend. The latest to join the “automatic” motorcycling world is the Chinese automaker QJMotor.
They have been churning out new motorcycles at a rapid pace, and the portfolio has already surpassed the 140-bike mark. QJMotor has already beaten America in making the first automatic V-twin cruiser. Now, they are expanding the automatic V-twin range with a new middleweight offering, as indicated in the latest type-approval listings.
The QJMotor SRV 600 V2 Will Gain A New Semi-Automatic Transmission
No Clutch And Foot Shifter
The SRV 600 V2 is not an entirely new motorcycle, but this particular model is noteworthy because it replaces the conventional 6-speed manual transmission with a semi-automatic transmission. This is confirmed by the absence of a shift pedal in the latest type approval listing images, as highlighted by our friends at CycleWorld. The picture shows just a footboard on the left side instead of the standard peg and shifter. Instead, the new SRV 600 V2 version gets a redesigned bronze-colored engine casing. Being an automatic, it should house an actuator that operates the manual shifter assembly instead. This is similar to how the Yamaha Y-AMT system works.
Interestingly, a lever is still present on the left side of the handlebar, and it is not the clutch lever. We are sure of this because the standard 6-speed manual-equipped SRV features a cable-operated clutch lever, whereas this new iteration appears to have a hydraulic master cylinder beside it. The only explanation for this is that QJMotor has conveniently relocated the rear brake pedal actuator to the left of the handlebar. In simpler terms, this Chinese V-twin cruiser bike features controls similar to those of a CVT-equipped scooter, with both brakes engaged using handlebar-mounted levers.
The SRV 600 V2 Has A V-twin Engine With 50 Horsepower
A Badass Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Rival
This Chinese cruiser bike is powered by a 550.4 cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine that produces approximately 50 horsepower and 39 pound-feet of torque. The standard model comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, whereas the one we are intrigued with here features a new 6-speed AMT gearbox. In both cases, it gets a final chain drive system.
The SRV 600 V2 cruiser bike looks badass with a muscular stance and some cool design features. It features a split seat setup, with the rider’s seat being wide and low to the ground. The pillion seat, however, is a namesake, but it does add to its cool look. The design language is futuristic with chunky front fork covers, a robotic headlamp design, and a unique six-spoke alloy wheel design.
The blacked-out engine is accentuated with bronze accents that further elevate the visual drama. Notably elevating its muscular stance is the chunky tire combo: a 130-section 16-inch tire up front and a 180-section 16-inch tire at the rear. We suspect the only difference between the manual and AMT is the gearbox design. Everything else should remain unchanged.
