Ever drive past a car dealership and wonder how they get those cars inside those fancy glass presentation towers? Well, a Canadian Cadillac dealership found out the hard way today when what appears to be a mechanical malfunction caused two brand-new Cadillac XT4s to crash straight down their presentation deck. Thankfully, nobody got hurt.

Something To Do With The Transmission On One Of The Lifts

The incident in question happened at the Thibault Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC dealership in the city of Sherbrooke, located in the province of Quebec. Of course, an investigation is still ongoing in order to know exactly what happened, and it’ll take a while to get these poor XT4s out of their prison. But the general assumption, according to a source familiar with the matter, is that the transmission on the lift in charge of raising and lowering these cars through their glass tower failed, causing the catastrophic chain of events that led to this. Watch below, we see the precise moment when all hell breaks loose.

Who do you even call to clean up a mess like that, a tow truck? The cars look like they landed there after being thrown through the air by the Hulk, peacefully squeezed together as the building’s structure attempts to hold them in one piece. Someone will definitely need to get those cars out of there as soon as possible, because the building’s structure is definitely compromised. I wouldn’t be surprised if that dealer closed down until the structure is deemed safe.

But this could have been much worse. Thankfully, none of the working staff on lociation were injured and there wasn’t any more damage done than what you see in these photos, including a lot of broken glass on the showroom floor.

The Cadillac XT4 Is On Its Last Model Year, Which Is Probably Why It Was Exposed

The Cadillac XT4 was the brand’s entry-level subcompact crossover until Cadillac announced it would be discontinued for the 2025 model year. It’ll effectively be replaced by the all-electric Optiq, which has already begun arriving at Cadillac dealers and stealing sales from the XT4 in the process. So, it only makes sense for that dealer to have exposed his remaining XT4s to get them off their lot. Here’s to hoping the cars that crashed from the sky haven’t been sold to anyone yet.

As for the damage done to those XT4s, it’ll definitely not buff out. The white one, especially, seems to have had serious damage to its hood, windshield, roof and A pilars. I wonder if they’ll try to salvage them or send them straight to the scrapyard. I’ll know more as the investigation moves forth, and will report back here once I have it.
