Aston Martin Vanquish Marks Quarter-Century with Throwback Special Edition

25 years is a decent milestone for any car nameplate to make it to, and is all but guaranteed to be marked with a limited edition designed to celebrate it (and, more cynically, shift a few extra units). 2002’s Volkswagen Golf GTI Anniversary, 1978’s Corvette Silver Anniversary, 1995’s Range Rover 25th Anniversary… Heck, even the Nissan Micra got one in 2008.

2026, meanwhile, marks 25 years since the debut of the Aston Martin Vanquish. Sort of. It’s not been a continuous run, with gaps between 2007 and 2012 and again between 2018 and 2024. Nevertheless, the Vanquish went full Happy Mondays and made a second comeback two years ago, in time to be back on sale for its big birthday, so here’s the inevitable special edition.

It’s called the Vanquish 25, and Aston is building… can you guess? No, you’re wrong: it’s 50, because there’ll be 25 each of the coupe and Volante. Each will be finished in Skye Silver, a new colour cooked up by Aston’s Q bespoking division in a nod to the original model’s Tungsten Silver launch colour. Other exterior tweaks include foil detailing on the side sills, a special Q-developed exhaust finisher and stainless steel strakes on the side vents.

Next to those is a bespoke 25 badge, bearing a logo you’ll also find on the inside, embossed into the headrests. Elsewhere on the inside, the Vanquish 25 gains a start/stop button picked out in bright red, laser-etched trim inlays and some new seat perforation patterns. Nothing exactly transformative, in other words. The cabin can be upholstered in Onyx Black, Oxford Tan or Phantom Grey.

You don’t get any more power out of the Vanquish’s 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12, but then you probably don’t need it, given it pumps out 824bhp and 738lb ft of torque, enough to get the coupe to 62mph in 3.3 seconds and on to 214mph. The original 2001 model, by comparison, made 460bhp and 400lb ft from its 5.9-litre naturally aspirated V12, allowing it to hit 60mph in around 4.8 seconds and top out at 190mph.

Aston hasn’t named the cost of the Vanquish 25, but with the regular car starting at around £335,000, expect to pay a little more for the privilege of a 50-off special edition. It’ll make its public debut in the caviar-soaked surroundings of Monterey Car Week next month.
